Examen Step 1 with Kids: the Not-So-Great Day

Become aware of the presence of God, I hear my voice say…

The faces of my kids, creased and furrowed,

The room heavy with tension and I breathed it in,

The tension is a part of me in my humanity,

The tension is a part of their humanity today.

It was a Not-So-Great Day in our humanity,

All the things happened- frustration, fights, fits

Jesus was fully human, fully God.

His tension, His creased and furrowed brow joins us,

Become aware of the Presence of God

The first step of the Examen.

A Pray-er with kids learns,

We cannot change our humanity to host Him.

He joins us.

The only reason to join us with His Presence is His Goodness and Kindness and Gentleness,

The Not-So-Great Day has not changed, and it has changed

Because, we are all aware He is here..

We don't change for Him,

Circumstances don't change because of Him,

We join up with Him and this change is Beauty, Truth, Goodness.
